I have received above 3-5 announcements like this, phrased almost precisely the same way. The senders have acted astonished and offended that I didn‘t leap to make the most of this invitation. If you think anything at all, you will maybe require to check up about facebook.com/jay.wiemuth.1.

Let us consider the problems within this invitation from a marketing standpoint.

* The vast majority of the invitations I received were from people whose names I did not understand. Why would I wish to be a part of their network? The request does not say who they‘re, who they have use of and how I‘d take advantage of their network.

* What‘s Linked-in, how does it work and what‘re the advantages of using it? Nobody has yet explained this clearly within their invitation. You cannot expect that some-one receiving this request knows what you‘re asking them to participate or how it would be beneficial to them. It‘d be helpful to have a paragraph or two describing how it works and citing a particular result the individual behind the invitation liked from membership. It might be that people think that since ‘basic account is free,‘ the normal beneficiary of this request will proceed and join. But even when it does not cost money, joining would devote some time. You still require to ‘sell‘ people on going for a free action, particularly with respect to an activity or organization which may be unfamiliar to them.

* No body took some time to head off possible misconceptions or objections to the membership. As a non-member of Linked-in, I am anxious that joining would open me up to lot of email and phone calls by which I‘d have no interest and that would waste my time. Again, you can not believe that some thing free is thus enticing; you must imagine why some one may have questions or dismiss the theory and address those questions.

* Using a refined invitation that‘s almost exactly the same as everybody else‘s does not produce a great feeling. You‘d wish to give it your personal stamp, even when the writing provided by Linked-in were successful, which it‘s not.

Besides being irritated that they‘re apparently encouraging visitors to send invitations that make little sense, I‘ve nothing against Linked In. Perhaps it‘s a good organization. My point is that its members have to use common sense and fundamental marketing axioms to promote busy, cynical visitors to give a chance to it..
